One Thing or Another

We are busy. School is winding down and as always, it seems as if so much is being "crammed" in the last few days. The kids don't have time to look up from their books.

Abby and Lilli are knee deep in baseball. They are LOVING that Joe is the assistant coach and the pitcher! Lilli hit a double this past Tuesday and brought two runners in! Abby had her turn at being pitcher and did a fantastic job! So much fun to watch the little ones play!

Daniel went to the Doctor last week and she thinks he has mono.... he is taking the test to confirm that today. Poor guy is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired!

Joe's first group of students are graduating.... can't believe he has been retired and at his new job for 7 months already... time sure does fly!

As for me... I just manage the calendar... and I'm not even that great at it! I am so ready for the relaxation that comes with JUNE!

Other than the normal busy... we did have visitors recently! Joe's sister and family stopped on the way to Atlanta - where they were headed for a big volleyball tournament. We had such a great visit... too bad it wasn't a little longer! We did have time to enjoy a great/competitive game of Apples to Apples... unfortunately I did not win one single round!!!

Can't wait to see everyone in August at the big family reunion!

Field Trips are the Best!

Abby has been counting down the days for quite a while now. Finally, April 7th arrived! We were up and at em' early yesterday... and were the first car in the parking lot of our beautiful local Botanical Gardens.

Lilli was so happy that she was allowed to tag along for the fun!

The children started the day with a wild animal scavenger hunt... looking for clues to all the animals that call the garden home. They found paw prints and other evidence that the gardens are in fact full of interesting creatures!

There was also a special display of "tree-houses" built and donated by local companies. Most of the local companies have an engineering focus so each tree-house was truly amazing! Some a little too tall for this mom to "relax"... but all fun for the kids! Abby especially liked the Wizard of Oz tree-house... fully decorated with flying monkeys and wicked witch legs!

The garden was in full splendor with the tulips in bloom. It was a wonderful morning.

Daniel's Pick

At the beginning of the current NBA season, Daniel was reading the Atlanta Journal Constitution Blog - sports' section - like he does 5 times a day it seems. There was a "contest" hosted by one of the writers. The contest centered around making some predictions about what the Hawks would do during the first part of the season. Daniel was spot on and won the competition. The prize - a bright red Atlanta Hawks t-shirt straight from ATL!

Fast forward a few months.....

Over 4.8 folks filled out the ESPN Tournament Challenge for March Madness. Today, Daniel is number 4079. Pretty good picking if I don't say so myself. So who did Daniel pick to win the tournament... Butler. Who knows... Daniel could finish even higher after tonight!

Lilli's Bunny

Lilli was writing in a notebook today. Lilli writes in notebooks everyday. In fact, Lilli will write on anything made out of paper - given to her for that purpose. Lilli loves to write letters on old recycled greeting cards - and she loves to read them to the intended recipient. Lilli loves to copy words off of anything... cereal boxes, books, a milk carton... you name it she will write it.

Usually, in the midst of all of her "words" Ms. Lilli will add a picture or two. I am always amazed at her artistic ability. She is 5 - but can draw and color like a much older little one!

Last week she drew Woody - from Toy Story fame... and when Joe and I "oohed and aahed" over her beautiful picture, she gifted us a second and third portrait of Jessie and Buzz!

Today her picture was a very small bunny....hmmmmm... I wonder why she had bunnies on her mind??? hahaha. She didn't copy the picture... she drew it all on her own. I know I am really a bit bias, but seriously, how cute it this.....

Happy Easter
