I Take it All Back....

If I have ever complained about anything being the hardest thing I have ever had to do... I take it all back.

Joey, who has been in possession of his Driver's Permit for 6 months and 7 days, walked out of the Department of Motor Vehicles today with a smile on his face and his License in his pocket.

He drove me home... dropping me at the curb in front of the walkway to the front door... and waved as he drove away to enjoy his first taste of true freedom.  His heart was pounding with excitement, mine was pounding with a mix of pride and worry.

This IS the hardest thing that I have ever done.  I have lost complete control over his safety and security.

Oh man.....  when the tail lights I see headed down the road are those of my child... it is tough.

Yikes....good thing I still have 7 more years before that milestone but I'm already getting nervous just thinking about it! The time goes by so quickly. Congrats to Joey.

I can't even imagine how nervous I will be one day, many years from now. He'll be safe!!!
